Just changed from chromebook to w10

    Hi There

For many years, used a laptop, last one being w10, but I then decided for some reason to change to a chromebook Acer14.

Very pleased in most respects but felt it was lacking in others.

This week I bought a HP Strean 14 and I am going through the set up process.

All connected and working, but although a competent pc user, am a bit lost and need some help please.

1-am used to classic view, but seem to be prevented to convert.
2-have pressed"full screen" and cannot get it back to normal.
3- on classic, I did start, r/c , send to, when I wanted a s/c icon, cant see option
4- prefer not to have tiles.

Just a few to go on with

Not sure what you mean by classic view. Do you mean normal desktop with a taskbar? That's normal for me.
Perhaps you are in tablet mode...?

    Screenshots are very helpful...

What exactly have you pressed? Do you mean a window is maximised? OR something else? What does 'it' refer to?
3- on classic, I did start, r/c , send to, when I wanted a s/c icon, cant see option
Please be clearer. Something about Send to - what option exactly do you see now?

    Screenshot please.
    Win key + R, shell:sendto
    opens the Send to folder.

You can add shortcuts there. Do not mess with the mail recipient. Here's mine for comparison:

You can use an alternative start menu- installing it means you can use either it or the Win 10 start menu. It also is much more configurable, supports drag 'n drop and deeply nested start menus properly (which no Win 10 style start menu does).

Open Shell (free) - the best of XP's cascading style and Win 7's. Includes configurable search box.
    Download Open-Shell (Classic Shell) 4.4.142

Not sure what you mean by classic view>>>classic shell start menu

have pressed"full screen" and cannot get it back to normal.>>>c/on a "full screen" option, so no menu bar showing, want to revert back

on classic, I did start, r/c , send to, when I wanted a s/c icon, cant see option>>on my previous(classic shell) start menu, I could do a r/c on a prog, then option to "send to" appeared and I did "desktop"

Thank you very much for your reply.

Which key have you pressed? What is full screen?

screenshot please. Or take a photo and upload it.

    What does r/c mean?

I'm afraid my crystal ball is currently down for scheduled maintenance...

R/C is well known as right click

Which key have you pressed? What is full screen?>>it was NOT a key, something on the window and as it is now full screen, there is no menu bar at all so no buttons, no options.

I have sorted my Classic Shell view/appearance, don't know if it was a coincidence, but once I activated Dropbox, classic start happened.

Good luck with future Windows version updates with such a small non-upgradeble 32 gig emmc drive.
To be totally honest I would return it and get something else to save future headaches.

Some models of the HP Stream 14 run to 64Gb.. which is still very limiting, depending on use..

See if you can get out of fullscreen by.............. Press FN key and F11 key together to exit out the full screen mode.
