Start Menu Font Suddenly Shrinks to Size 6pt from 12pt
I've a brand new spec built Win 10 Pro Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.476) machine.
I use it for normal word processing and email etc. Nothing special.
No weird 3rd party apps.
Use LibreOffice version 6.3 for docs word processing.
Email client is eM Client Version 7.2.36908.0
[Bug]
The Start Menu font size will suddenly shrink from about 12pt (I'm guessing the sizes) to about 6pt.
The size flips back and forth from 12pt to 4~6pt with just normal use.
Intervals between the flip is random i.e. use it for a few hours, size shrinks, I log out, size returns to normal and bug repeats.
Happens only to the Start Menu.
Have no idea what's triggering this.
Have asked several colleagues if they've experienced same and all say nope.
I have three monitors (1) Eizo EV3285 (2) Eizo FlexScan SX2462W (3) Eizo FlexScan L767.
Use DisplayFusion Pro Version 9.5 for monitor admin.
Shrink seems to occur on the EV3285 but have not opened Start on (2) and (3) when it happens.
End up logging out to return it to normal a.s.a.p.
Display Settings and Personalize adjustments do not resolve the bug.
Custom Scaling does not help.
I've tried as many admin commands that I can do safely e.g.
1. sft /scannow
2. chkdsk
3. DISM /ONLINE /CLEANUP-IMAGE /RESTOREHEALTH
From chkdsk (if I remember correctly) it returned the following;
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.
Searching the path I can't the file and would not know what to look for if I could find it.
Reached out to Microsoft Community and was advised to run Get-App fix:
Get-AppXPackage -Name Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
It did not resolve the bug.
Nothing has helped so just living with it for now.
Have not done a Repair Install of Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade.
When machine was first booted up after build there was no problem with the Start Menu font.
Maybe it was an update?
Fellow that built my machine has no idea after scouring the web and he's knows his stuff.
He suggests a Repair Install which would Iike to avoid if possible.
Your advice is sincerely appreciated.
Thank you,
