This problem start for me few days ago when update to Windows 10 1909.

Some thumbnails are showing but others not

I find a method to turn all the thumbnails on.

I create in other disk a new folder empty.

Then I select all the images in the original folder, cut them and paste in the new folder.

    All thumbnails are shown correctly.

Then I did the inverse process to restore the thumbnails to the original folder.

Of course if you have others folder with the same problem you can repeat this process.

For me only the Images folder was affected.

    This workaround work for me.

There are a few things to check here, first is that under folder options, view, you have "always show icons never thumbnails" unchecked, check to see if the folder has a customization applied (from folder right click, properties, customization), if the folder has images in change the template to Pictures.
If you are using a custom folder icon (that replaces the Windows default folder icon) that will mess up thumbnail view.
Check to see if you have installed a program that has taken over the image associations, if you have you can change the default handler back which may cure the issue.
I have folders with several hundred mixed format images ranging form a few kilobytes to several hundred MB's in size, with sub folders as well and don't have any issues with thumbnails.
