    Win Ten Auto Repair looping...

    i7 Sony Vaio Laptop

OK guys, I need a bit of help please...

I am freaking tired of missing the 20 second window (or whatever short time it is) when Win 10 does the "Scanning and Repairing Drive c" procedure. It's stuck in a loop.

It's been five days now I've been trying to catch the "Hit any key to continue" display and have thus far missed it. This last time, I have been watching it run all day and I get up for fifteen seconds to go to the bathroom and when I came back it had moved forward to the next screen, AGAIN. CRAP.

There seems that there simply must be a way around this. I've tried getting into Safe-Mode but can not.

How do I interrupt and stop this process?

    Thank you for your time,
    John

Not clear do you mean it scans every time you start or its started and not stopped for days?

It started and has not stopped for five days. There IS an option after the scanning and repair screen where it pops up and says to skip and boot to Windows, hit any key. That is the screen I keep missing because it only comes up for a short time (like ten to twenty seconds) with a timer on it. Been fighting this for five days now. Thank you for your reply.

How big is the drive to take so long its either finding lots of errors , its crashed , or its a very big drive.

You can stop it running How to Cancel a Scheduled Chkdsk at Boot in Windows 10?

    Thank you Samuria...

    Drive is 1TB.

And the problem is that it is already in the loop. Rebooting only starts it back exactly where is was before the reboot. Even taking out the battery and rebooting does the SAME thing.

I need to know HOW TO STOP IT WHEN IT IS [ALREADY] RUNNING.

    Thank you again,
    John

PS - The link you gave me is only for stopping a scheduled chkdsk at boot-up. That is not really what I asked. I ask how to stop it once it's ALREADY running, and load Windows. Thanks again.

    Try this.

Boot a Windows 10 installation flash drive.
At the first window, press Shift+F10 to get to a Command Prompt.
Next type fsutil dirty query c: where c: is your boot drive. This queries the drive, and should tell you that it is dirty.
Next, type chkntfs /x c:. The X tells Windows to NOT check that particular drive on the next reboot.

Exit install so your computer reboots. It should not do a chkdsk and should take you directly to normal Windows login.

    Thanks Ztruker...

I'll try that in the morn.

Just one quick question... how do I make a Windows 10 installation flash drive?

    Thanks again,
    John

Create a bootable Windows 10 installation USB that supports UEFI mode (recommended) or Legacy BIOS (CSM) for how you want to install Windows 10.
