Sorry to hear it didn't work.
I got that one from @essenbe, our forums overclocking godfather, and have it on four PCs and it always worked.

Have you already tried spamming the delete key during POST?
He doesn't list a lot of System Specs or install info. You have to have a UEFI bios and install for that to work. You can just paste it into an elevated command prompt too.

    shutdown /r /fw /t 0

Yes. sorry. I've tried DEL, F2, F8, F10 and F11. My Motherboard is supposed to respond to F11. It doesn't.

Someone said I can't get there is "Fast Boot" (or somesuch nomenclature) is enabled...but I have to get IN THERE to turn it off!.
There is a 'fast boot' in some bios, but that's not what they were referring too. Windows itself has a setting called Fast Startup, if this is enabled then shut down uses a hybrid form of hibernation. On power up the PC is resuming from hibernation rather than performing a full start up from cold. This can mean that on some machines the bios will skip the initial stage at which you could press a Function key to enter the bios/uefi.

Either turn off Fast Startup or use Restart rather than Shut down if you want to get to the bios. A Restart is always a full start from cold.

Try F1 as soon as you see the HP Logo. If you do it too late, it won't work. My Asus laptop you have to do a complete shutdown first and only hit the key once for it to work. If you spam the key like on other devices, it won't work. They al have their little quirks.

I have followed the power options instructions AND run Brinks .bat file. No go. The PC hangs up WHENEVER I try anything other than a simple re-start...which it does very fast; seconds.

I had same problem as OP.
My BIOS has a Ultra fast startup. It doesn't load some BIOS drivers (like USB). Once set, your keyboard and mouse doesn't work till it boots and loads Windows drivers.

The only option was to reset BIOS (take out the coin battery and wait a minute). Once BIOS is reset to the default you can access BIOS. (F2)

Take out the battery! Brilliant. Now, I just have to find it. This box is packed tighter than my parent's station wagon (remember those?) I'll report back.

    Update:
    WHOWHOO!
Megahertz, you can take the rest of the day off.
    Thanks to you all!

By the enthusiasm I would say it worked.

If so, please mark this thread as Solved.
