Laptop closes programes when lid is closed

This past few days whenever i close the laptop lid with the laptop is still on whenever i later return to the laptop open the lid all programes that i had opened even the web browser are closed, anyone offer any help to fix this so that all programs that were opened remain open.

Take a look in Power Options and see what action is taken when the lid is closed.

When the lid is closed its set to sleep on both battery and plugged in.

Perhaps some sort of power issue is causing it to shut down when sleeping.

When you return, before you turn it on, is the power light flashing, like I assume it should be during sleep? Or is it off?

And when you do turn it on, does it seem to go through a bootup, or does it seem to just be waking up?
