Unable to boot PC even after using bootable installation media

    You cannot run Check Disk from the System32 directory. At the C:\Windows\System32 command prompt, type a back slash (ie) \ and press enter. This will take you to the Root of the C: Drive. (ie) C:\> here type chkdsk /R and press Enter. Then type a Y for Yes. then Reboot the computer. Check Disk will run at next bootup and will take a long while.
