Bought computer in Germany - how to reset the laptop to be completely

    ...in English?

I bought a laptop for my sister on black friday - stupidly I thought it would be just an easy fix in settings, but there are still things coming up in German, which is no good for her (though I'd welcome it)

The main thing I need to do now is change the settings for that the computer runs 100% in English, will this require me to reinstall the OS from scratch? And if so how do I do that? (forgive me I am normally a mac user)

If it's relevant the laptop is a Lenovo Ideapad 330s.

You could follow this tutorial at this forum:

It's pretty much the same as mrgeek referenced link...

The tenforums tutorial in post 3 has good step by step video by an expert, if you have another computer to follow it on while you work.

What's puzzling is that you seem to indicate most things are in English, but some are in German.

Could you provide some examples? In particular, are the items displayed in German related to particular programs, or the OS?

Please note for reference that some Windows installations are single language. Windows Home single language does not support the use of language packs.

A screenshot like this would be helpful:

To post a screenshot please use the Insert Image icon above your post. Thanks.

See System Default UI Language of Windows 10 | Tutorials
That would be useful to know too.

A related issue will be that the laptop presumably has a German keyboard, so the appropriate support will be needed.

thanks for the replies - please see screenshot attached

the tips in post #3 have been done, I have changed the display language and the keyboard - my problem is when I restart the computer the login stage is in german and the keyboard is too - this means that is my login password contain a y is is where the z would be on a US keyboard - I want English to be the 'core' language of the computer, hence why I asked should I just reinstall the whole OS?

Language Solved - Windows 10 Forums
    - see post #2 for example.

Certainly if bought as a second hand PC, a clean install would be recommended (tutorial available).
In particular circumstances there is also this trick:

Upgrade to a different language of Windows 10 from the installed one

If new, it's possible McAfee and others are just trial installations anyway. Personally I'd avoid McAfee.
