PC Freezing for short periods -> DistributedCOM Error?

Ordinarily the drivers are uninstalled and reinstalled.
In this case you can install the driver over the existing driver.
Then you will perform Windows updates and Windows will update the driver to the latest version.

The best tested drivers are always on the computer or motherboard manufacturer's websites.
Windows will update Microsoft and non-Microsoft drivers.
Drivers can be downloaded from the computer manufacturer, component manufacture, Microsoft, and third party websites.
Third party websites can install unknown files and in general should not be used.
The best tested drivers are installed from the computer or motherboard manufacturer and and then updated.
If a driver is needed and is not displayed on the computer or motherboard manufacturer's website then use the component manufacturer's website: Intel, AMD, Nvidia, Killer Networks, Realtek, etc.

The most up to date version of Windows can become corrupt.
In a similar fashion the most up to date driver can become corrupt.
Windows provides information on whether the driver is up to date but does not report the corruption or the integrity of the driver.

I will complete the driver install, reboot fresh and set up the driver tester and run it again.

I installed the drivers. But after rebooting, it still showed the April version of the driver rather than the May version I downloaded. So, I figured I'd go ahead with the new verifier run.

But, with your instructdions to not run the randomized low resource utilization, I dont' see how not to. Below are the screens I see while setting it up (with the drivers checked that I had last time):





So after the two above screens comes the one below, and it appears to be what you don't want, and I see no way to turn it off. I tried cancel, thinking just maybe that cancelled that part and went on, but as expected, it cancelled the whole run of verifier. I'll await your reply before I run again:

In the image there is a check in the box to enable randomized low resource simulation.
Please remove the check from the box so that it is no longer enabled.
Only check the boxes per the instructions in the link.

I'm sorry. Brain Farts. For some reason I was thinking that was the screen for selecting what drivers to select, and wasn't reading all them. For my second run, I just added more of those, which then turned on that stuff.

So, I'm running it now, with correct things checked, and all drivers except for Microsoft drivers.

Hopefully a final update for tonight...

I finally have my head screwed on straight. I did the very first test correctly, but when adding more 'tests', I just started clicking. So that BSOD may have not been a 'valid' one, given the settings were wrong.

I have the settings right now, and I'm going to go ahead and do the 19 tests and see what happens.

About to boot now and see how it goes.

When I go to the HP site, I don't see how to identify that driver. There are 4 HP drivers under Keyboard category. None indicate "Keyboard Filter Driver". There are 4 other non-HP drivers also. They don't show the name of the driver. Any suggestions on how I identify the correct one?
I do see a hint as to which driver to use...one of the top two. They both have version numbers larger than the current driver, and the top one is for a later Windows build...so I'm guessing the top one.
Also, you do seem interested in having me "uninstall the driver" first. The only way I see to uninstall a driver is to uninstall the device. The driver downloads are EXE files that I would run to install the driver. Based on that I presume I cannot update the driver by browsing to that file.

Open device manager > click view > click show hidden devices > expand keyboards > right click on keyboard with hotkey support > left click properties> left click driver tab > left click details > see if it displays hpqkbfilter

On the HP website download and install the HP keyboard drivers (synaptics touch pad drivers)
