Try this if the folder exists:

Go to the folder “C:\Program Files (x86)”
Go to the view tab and select the tick box “Hidden Items“

Rename the folder “InstallShield Installation Information” to “InstallShield Installation Information.old“

    Reboot.

If that doesn't fix it rename the folder back to the original folder name.

I bet it's the CD protections. Read this.

Let me know what A-Ray scanner says about the disk and its security? Download Link

Steam does have Monopoly as well. I don't think I paid more than $20 for it.

    VirusTotal

You simply drop that Monopoly.exe file in the install directory. That is if this is a Safedisc or SecuROM issue...

    Paul,

I suggest you treat the SFC problem as your top priority.

If you are entering the command correctly in an elevated Command window then it is indeed a serious problem.
Do other exe files run? I assume the answer must be Yes or you'd have said so. I also assume that you have rebooted and the problem remains.

I think you need to run a Repair install to rewrite the files that SFC would have checked for you.
SFC ought to work afterwards and should be run as a test.
Get the latest ISO fileand use it to run the Repair install [which is a Repair operation not an installation so your applications & your own files should be safe but I always make a new system image before running it].

    Best of luck,
    Denis

I agree, the SFC problem needs to be addressed. I imagine this whole package of issues is quite frustrating, so I just wanted to add - I'm sorry, and hope you'll get it sorted out.

Suggest you do the usual two basic checks I so often recommend prior to that:

    a. Check your disk(s) - Hard Disk Sentinel (covers SSDs too)- just get a copy, run it, look at its GUI. Green is good- gives comprehensible assessment. Use tabs on left to see state of each disk.

    b. If ok, then from an admin command prompt run
    chkdsk c: /scan

Look at the last few lines- see if that passed.

    Clarification please:
just recently when I Installed a fresh copy of Windows 10.
    Do you mean:
    a. a clean install- deleting all O/S partitions, and creating a new user account by booting from an installation disk.

    or

    b. you logged in and then ran setup.exe either from an installation disk or a mounted iso file
    - an in-place upgrade repair

Now the forum clearly prompted you for your full build number- why? So we don't have to keep asking. Sadly so many ignore this.

    Use winver. e.g. 19045.xxxx

    Thanks.

    ..."Catastrophic failure"...
That sounds worse than an Epic Failure.

Hope you find a solution though.
