Windows DVD Player and File Explorer close when reading a DVD

When I try to autoplay a DVD, the Windows DVD Player will load and then immediately close. When I view the /VIDEO_TS directory in the DVD the same event happens. This behavior was not true in the past. What is going on?

    I am running Windows 10. My DVD drive is a HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GT0N. The drivers are up-to-date.

What build are you on? Check with Winver, if it's 14393.953 then it's a known issue.

    Known issues in this update
Windows DVD Player (and 3rd party apps that use Microsoft MPEG-2 libraries) crashes when run. This issue is currently being addressed and a fix will be provided when ready.
    Cumulative Update KB4013429 and KB4013418 Windows 10 Build 14393.953

This was fixed in Cumulative Update KB4015438 for Windows 10 v1607 Build 14393.969
