    Removable hard drive

I was running a scan on a removable hard drive - 2010 vintage, 800 MB, LG spinning drive, using my Dell 2012 inspiron notebook - which doesn't have a battery anymore - and the power went off. This resulted in the removable drive no longer being assigned an identification letter, although it still shows up and is identified as the drive (and that it is working normally!). I have tried all the methods available online and on YTube to try and get it back, but the only option available is to initialize it, which would result in wiping all data and it being reformatted; any ideas?

What exactly is the problem? Are you able to see the files on the drive?
