Lenovo P51: Help Solving Mysterious Wide Vertical Bar On Screen?

6 years old. Moderate to heavy home use. Windows 10 21H1.

Intel HD Graphics 630 - Driver Version 27.20.100.9320

    Nvidia Quadro M1200 - Driver Version 30.0.15.1329

This is what the screen all of a sudden occasionally looks like:

The only way to get rid of it has been to close the lid and then just open it again or sometimes opening up a bunch of windows will get rid of it though the former is much quicker.

Interestingly I cannot do a screen grab or a screenshot and capture the bar since it will not show. I had to use my phone to capture the bar.

Problem has been happening maybe once every two or three weeks. No programs running other than Task Manager and different browsers.

So do you all think this is a hardware or software problem? TIA.

I'd expect you'd get a better response if you posted your diagram in your thread.

Judging from your words alone, I'd say that your display cable might be damaged.
The most likely place to get damaged is as it bends around the display assy hinge.

Thanks for replying. What do you mean by posting a screenshot of the "diagram"? You mean the info about my computer at the bottom of my post like yours "Dell Inspiron..." If so I thought that I had provided the pertinent info in the body of my post. TIA.

You put in a link to a diagram.
I suggested that you'd get a better response by posting the diagram directly in your post instead.
