Why is the laptop screen flickering

I have an hp 14-dv0003ne laptop. I lifted it up from the front right corner which is towards me. That movement caused friction/pressure on the back corner where the hinges is. The screen flickered black the instant I lifted the laptop and pulled it towards me and then the laptop froze and became unresponsive so I had to force shutdown. That has happened around 30 times in the past few months and it's happening randomly and it's not always happening.

I tried to trigger the problem. I hit this part of the laptop https://i.imgur.com/OPxq4Kz.png on the bed mattress and the screen flickered black and then the laptop froze and became unresponsive so I had to force shutdown. I tried to trigger it again the next day but I wasn't able to do it.

I want to ask why is the laptop screen flickering black and it's happening sometimes and not always? There is a wire which looks like this https://i.imgur.com/TTiXWK7.png and it connects the motherboard to the screen and it goes near the hinges at the back and up along the sides of the screen. Is the problem with this wire and it's loose\damaged\dirty?

My laptop is with a repair shop. I told them about the problem of my laptop and they said that they fixed it but the problem came back after I got it back from them and I was able to trigger it once by bumping the laptop on the bed mattress. I took the laptop back to the shop and I told them to check the laptop again and to check that wire again.

Am I right and the problem is with that wire? Can something else cause that problem?

How do I guarantee that the problem doesn't happen again? I tell them to replace that wire?

The display cable might well have been damaged by the hinges and so need replacing.
You cannot be sure that is the case but your description matches my experience when I had that fault [twice, two different laptops].
I cannot think of anything else that could cause the symptoms you describe.

What exactly did the repair shop do?

I did not look at your picture. I would have done so if you had displayed it within your post.

They can't figure out why the problem is happening. I will tell them to check the connectors in the screen and motherboard and if they are ok then I will tell them to replace the wire.

If the wire is damaged then why sometimes the screen flickers black but it's not always happening?

It sounds like the answer is, Nothing.

Intermittent, variable symptoms are a common feature of cable damage - from these delicate & very densely packed cables through to the large, high voltage cables connecting electricity substations.

I had a similar issue with a Dell laptop which was due to a poor connection between the motherboard and GPU caused by a partly broken hinge. I fixed the hinge using Araldite and reconnected the cable. All has been fine since but I had to almost totally dissemble the laptop to reach the cable. Fortunately Dell produce free service guides.

I don't understand. Why would a broken hinge affect that wire?

Are you talking about the same wire that I am talking about?

The broken hinge allowed the screen to move slightly outwards pulling on the GPU cable causing it to become partly disconnected.

Do you mean the wire connecting the screen to the motherboard?

There is a ribbon cable running from the bottom of the screen to the motherboard which is easy to dislodge if there is a problem with the hinge

I did a search on the cable which connects the screen to the motherboard for my laptop. I found https://i.imgur.com/TTiXWK7.png. Is that the ribbon cable that you are talking about?
