    USB Flash Drive Not Recognised

Having problems with Toshiba Laptop no. 3, so thought I would re-install W10 from a usb flash drive.......unfortunately it won't recognise the flash drive, have tried it in the other three laptops, and it shows up in the BIOS menu of all of them........as far as I can see all settings are the same, all running the latest version of W10......am I missing something ?........

What sort of problem were you experiencing? USB ports? Failure to boot? Something that might relate to the bootable drive not being seen?

Presumably you've tried it in different USB ports.

Mmmhhh....Well, got into the installation part, but it says " Windows cannot be installed to this disk, the selected disk is of the GPT partition type".......whatever that means ??........

    Thank you for your reply.

Windows Cannot be Installed to This Disk. The Selected Disk is of GPT Partition Style (20223FIX) - EaseUS

    - and there are solved threads dealing with that quite well-known message e.g.
Cant install Windows 10 because of GPT partition error message

    - if you were to search tenforums...

You booted the flash drive in legacy BIOS (CSM) mode and tried to install it to a partition on a GPT disk. You need to boot the flash drive in UEFI mode. You did not answer the question regarding how you made the flash drive, using Microsoft's own Media Creation Tool or creating it from an ISO file using Rufus. If you used the MCT, the flash drive can boot in both UEFI and legacy BIOS modes. If you used Rufus and the wrong settings, it may be set up to boot only in legacy BIOS mode.

In any case, the issue is not with the computer.

What are the specs of the Toshiba Laptop no. 3?

As you're reinstalling Windows 10, don't make changes to BIOS settings. If they worked for the current, they will work for the new install.

Windows can be installed in two ways: Legacy-MBR or UEFI-GPT
To install as Legacy-MBR you must boot the installation drive as Legacy
To install as UEFI-GPT you must boot the installation drive as UEFI.

As you have a UEFI BIOS, you should install as UEFI-GPT
Detach any other drives (SATA or Power cable) from the MB.

During POST, press F12(?) to launch the boot menu. You will see two options for the USB drive. USB UEFI (Name) and USB (Name). Select USB UEFI (Name) if you want to install as UEFI-GPT or select USB (name) if you want to install as Legacy-MBR.
Go to install and delete ALL partitions on the main drive till you have one and only one unallocated space and then proceed.

It sounds like you have other settings in BIOS that are incorrect, then.
