Win 10 Wakes Immediately Upon Sleep

Out of the blue my wireless mouse disconnected a few days ago (fully charged...). It was intermittently very bad for a couple of days. Since then it's been better & last couple of days it's only faltered once or twice.

Also since then when sleeping it wakes immediately. Cmd suggests it's the USB 3? But there is nothing in the USB port & it's been working ok last couple of days... The mouse is not connected to a usb 3.0 port, more so a USB 2.0 port but have taken all USB's out completely so it can't be USB.

Tried already this well written article [URL="https://thegeekpage.com/fix-computer-automatically-waking-up-from-sleep-in-windows-10/[/URL] amongst another several step article:
    • Device Manager - deleted all USB devices & rebooted
    • Device Manager - checked if update is required to USB drivers; does not appear so
    • Device Manager - set all mice Power Management > not to wake up computer
    • Disabled wake timers in Power Options. Despite this it allows the clicking of the mouse to wake (when the machine does actually go to sleep). I cannot say every time as more often than not the machine will not sleep but I mention to be thorough.
    • Wireless adapter does not have wake timers enabled
    • Deleting all usb ports in device manager & restarting.
    • Power plan > no dodgy settings. Thought it might be setting "On Battery" never put to sleep but that's not the case.
    • Device Manager Network Adapter - no wake settings
    • Event viewer shows USB 3.0 causing it (2 pics)Attachment 388361
    • Event Scheduler loaded fine at first. Then following the article after installing PSTools I get a warning pic attachedAttachment 388362
    • Event Scheduler Reboot_AC & Reboot_Battery are disabled
    • Task Scheduler Library -> Microsoft -> Windows -> UpdateOrchestrator is missing; there is no updateOrchestrator as in fix-6 of the article. I'll take this with a pinch of salt as the article is not 100% with my machine, I'm not getting a prompt when loading cmd to allow access to UAC... so I'll take it with a pinch of salt
    • sc config “UsoSvc” start= disabled
    • Regedit > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon > PowerdownAfterShutdown = 0.
    • Windows Update is latest settings

If your mouse isn't working 100% it can be that it is generating random small pulses that prevent to enter sleep mode.
Try this: As you have a laptop, set power management to NEVER turn USB ports and remove the mouse receiver from the USB port.
Use the mouse pad and wait to enter sleep mode.

Thanks, it's happening when the mouse & receiver is not connected; intermittently when mouse is connected/ not connected & when power is & is not connected.

Anyone have any ideas - this is driving me nuts. Bought a new mouse; so that's eradicated. I'm using a display port via usb-3 & event viewer & powercfg says this is waking the device. But it is linked to some monitors, mouse & keyboard. None of which are being pressed.

Sometimes when I put it to sleep it shuts down.

    • sfc in cmd editor scanned for system errors & repairs; none
    • Deleted devices in device manager
    • There were wake events but is not happening at these times (HD backup). Deleted still no joy.
    • Power plan restored to default

EDIT on a clean boot when putting to sleep it just shuts down.

UPDATE - I think it's related to battery it refused to turn on, with the power button blinking when trying to start up. Ordering a new battery.

Replaced battery - it is not the battery. Happens both when connected to power source & not, all whom settings have been reset to factory OEM settings.

powercfg/lastwake shows USB 3.0 is last thing to woke machine; but there is nothing in this USB port.

I had ideas but it seems you already ruled them out.

I tamed my desktop by setting keyboard and mouse to not allowed to wake it up (in device manager, didnt need to touch bios), also making sure magic packet stuff is disabled on network devices.

My laptop has no ability to disable kb/mouse wakeup so I have to make sure never accidentally touch the keys, it occasionally still wakes up by itself, which I suspect is windows update stuff. But luckily doesnt happen often.

The last wake command said USB, so maybe check the power settings on the USB ports and tinker with those, to see if it can have any effect.

Immediate wake does suggest to me its input related, its detecting an input from somewhere, if was a service or network I think wouldnt be immediate.

Did you try a Clean Boot ?

Try to create a new user. Does it also happens under this new user?

Thanks, Control Panel > Power Options > Power Plan > Advanced > On Battery & Plugged In was enabled. I have disabled & have not seen a difference.

Thanks, good idea, just tried, first attempt > sleep > computer restarted.
Second attempt laptop shut-down so does not appear to be user corruption though I think this was a great idea. There must be something corrupted; as mentioned I have done a SFC /scannow shows no system corruption .

Grateful of any suggestions as this is quite a problem for me going into meetings I have to load up fresh then load files which causes bosses to be frustrated waiting for me to load files.

EDIT - Graphics card driver & windows 10 update all done yesterday to latest versions & update every couple of months usually.

Do you mean that you have merely checked for display driver updates or have you reinstalled every display card driver since the problems began?

Both, and only a single display driver "display adapter" on my system I think.
