    Printer Installation

    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz 3.20 GHz
    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
    21H2

I have been having issues with my printer utility so I uninstalled everything.
Trying to set up the printer which is hard wired into my desktop but it doesn't find it.
It finds the printer across the office which I even unplugged, via Wifi I guess.

How to tell it "hey buddy, hook your butt up to the printer that's attached to you"?

You need to install the Printer driver.
Visit the printer manufacturers site for the correct driver version and installation method applicable to your model.

Did that just after posting. It won't complete the install. Not seeing a wired in printer.

I need a new printer anyways. Takes a page of warmup as the first sheet comes out black.

"Wired" ... as in USB ?

Try a different USB computer port. Try a different USB cable.

    Reboot after trying each option

Is it a Canon printer? From personal experience I know they are a proper PITA in getting the driver software to recognise the printer. I've found (and it might be the case for other printers) that it's best left unconnected until the driver software is partly installed, and asks for the printer to be connected and turned on.

    Thanks.

It's a Brother. I've always had good luck with Brother products for the last 25 years.

    New one coming tomorrow.

    Hello @123pugsy,

I have put these together for you that might help with diagnosis.

Copy & Paste the following commands into a CMD Prompt and press Enter.

    Code:

    PowerShell Get-PrinterDriver -Name * ^| Format-Table -AutoSize ^| Out-String -Width 1000
    Code:

PowerShell Get-WindowsDriver -Online ^| Where ClassName -eq 'Printer' ^| Select ProviderName, ClassName, Online, Driver, Version, Date ^| Sort-Object -Property ProviderName, ClassName, Date, Version ^| Format-Table -AutoSize ^| Out-String -Width 1000

    I hope this helps

Might be worth uninstalling the driver completely before installing the new one. I use the PowerShell commands after removing from Settings.
