How do I run two models of the same brand of printer?

    I have a Windows 10 Home PC (22H2) PC and a laptop with Windows 11 Pro (21H2).

I currently have the old printer communicating with both the PC and Laptop via wifi. I want to add the newer second printer also using wifi. When I asked the manufacturer if that's possible to do, they said yes but that I'd have to pick the correct printer driver every time I print.

Why can't I just pick whichever printer I'd like to use before printing? I'm trying to use up the ink for the old printer before removing it, but I'd like to test out the new printer too.

You can just add both printers and select the one you want when printing.

    Hello @Alicia J,

Unless the Printer is of the same make, model, and group of printers, then they will more than likely have their own individual Drivers anyway. Other than that, this should NOT have any impact.

If it is just a case of testing the new Printer, you could connect it to a computer via a printer cable.

Basically, you just need to select whichever is the desired Printer [ Settings or Properties probably ] when printing.

    I hope this helps.

    Alicia,

    Do you mean that
both printers will be on your home network
    or
both printers are connected using 'WiFi Direct'?

z3r010 that's what I thought, just choose the printer I want.

Paul Black thanks for the suggestion.

Try3 I would be adding the second printer to my home network and then they'd both be on that network.

Oh, good. In that case, I agree that you will just need to select which printer you want each time.

You can set one of them as the 'default' printer, i.e. the one normally selected, and then choose whichever you want. For example,

I have set the MS print to pdf as my default printer & I can select my proper printer [LaserJet] for any particular printing I do.
    - Most printer dialogs look roughly like this one.
    - I can just click on OK to print from my default printer.
    - Or I can select LaserJet from the drop-down list then click on OK.

    All the best,
    Denis

I have an HP LaserJet Pro and an HP OfficeJet Pro connected to my Wireless Router by Ethernet cable. Any Wired or Wireless/Wi-Fi computer desired can print to either printer and no one computer has to be running, just the Router and the printers. I don't use the Wireless Direct feature.

I have an Epson Workforce 7510 and Workforce 7710 connected to my network, both WiFi. All I have to do is select which printer I want to print to. Never have had to reload drivers.

Thanks Try3. I thought it would be that easy to do if they're both connected wirelessly on the same network.

Thank you for your reply Berton.

I am using two Epson printers models NavyLCDR. Thanks for your reply.

I installed the new printer and now can choose from a drop down menu which one to print with, and I can assign a default too.
