How to assign a drive letter in File Explorer to USB conn.Android tel?

Assume I connected an Android smartphone via USB cable to my Win10 notebook.
It appears in File Explorer as a new entry and I copy files to/from it.

Unfortunately the entry in File Explorer has NO drive letter assigned.

    How can I achieve this?

I think you cannot assign a drive letter to a multimedia device.

The multimedia device, my Android phone, does not show in Disk Management.
It is not recognized as a USB storage device.

My LG phone (not a smart phone) shows up as drive I:

I have the phone's USB mode set to "mass storage". That's why it shows up as the I: drive.

It it were set to "modem mode" that would not be the case.
