I think my hard drive is finally going because everyday I have to run a scan and it repairs something but what I don't know. Where is the log located so I can check as to what the cause of my errors are? I did order a new one this time a SSD. I just need to get through the next few days until I get it. Thanks

4) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
chkdsk /r /v
This may take hours to run so plan to run overnight.
Run on all drives using the syntax: chkdsk /r /v C: or chkdsk /r /v D: changing the drive letter to the applicable drive.

I figured out what it was my E drive is going bad, so I had to order another hard drive won't get that until Monday. Same thing happened to my PC about 2 years ago and my D drive was going bad that's why I was getting errors on the C drive. Once I changed that no more errors, but this time the errors are more frequent. This drive is really, really old so I got my money out of it, I'm talking like over 15 years old.....lol. Can I disconnect it or will that still mess up the c drive, should I just leave it alone until I get the new drive..
Did you view chkdsk, SMART or other results?
a. One way to try to get early warning of drive failure - assuming its progressive rather than catastrophic - is to have Crystal Diskinfo e.g. (free) running as a startup program, set to warn you of any drives whose SMART parameters fall outside set thresholds.
b. Also note that if you use disk imaging routinely (as is endlessly recommended here) the very act of creating an image will verify the integrity of at least the used part of each disk or partition imaged and thus generate an error.
For example, I was regularly imaging partitions on a disk. Suddenly I got an error. I ran a disk check with Hard Disk Sentinel- and there was a problem with weak sectors.
Finally- note that (a) and (b) are not the same thing and do not detect the same things.
