Can I Delete Local Disk Drives?

I have two local disk drives R (used 6.38GB) and W (182MB) that appeared after I attempted to install BitLocker. I changed my mind and stopped the install before it was finished. My question is, can I delete them without harm to my computer?

    Welcome to Ten Forums.

To answer that it would help to see a screenshot of disk management showing those two drives.

A really quick way to post a screen shot is to just Drag & Drop the picture into the Quick Reply box.

The 'How to' link I gave above is more about resizing the Disk Management columns so all the info we need is visible, rather than taking and posting the screenshot.

True enough. But after the appropriate image and information is captured, Drag & Drop is a good option. I used Drag & Drop with this image of my Disk Management. As for resizing, this site does it automatically. As it did with this large image. As you know, clicking on the image enlarges it. I'm stating this information for the OP. You don't need any education when it comes to the workings of this forum. I say this with all respect. O! By the way you asked the OP to post a screen shot in post #2 I stand by my Drag & Drop option. It works and is simple for newcomers to this forum.

I was also thinking that it would be important to know what exactly is in the drive. Click Windows Key + E Click This PC Open the drive in question. If needed, right-click in an empty spot, select View / Medium Icons So we can see what's there. Like what you see here. I "Drag & Drop" this image. Click the image to enlarge.

It may 'work', but even after clicking on the image the text is tiny, and very hard to read (and gets harder as one gets older). It is worthwhile for posters to attempt to arrange the size of their screnshot so the text is readable - just because they may have a very large screen does not mean that the image needs to fill it (certainly not with pointless white space). Two examples:

and the same info with a 'sized' screen:

Now I am taking my chances that this will make my point before I get to see it! Martin
PS yes, I could have sized the columns better

    Upload of Disk Management SS

Can I Delete Local Disk Drives?-diskmanagement.jpg Is this what you are asking for? It doesn't look exactly like the example posted.

Open a command prompt with admin privileges or a powershell with admin privileges and run the following commands:
    Code:
    diskpart
    select volume w
    remove letter=w
    select volume r
    remove letter=r
    exit
    exit
That's all you have to do.

What NavyLCDR is suggesting will remove the drive letters for those two drives, so you won't see them in normal use - which is fine. You can achieve the same from the GUI of DM, but that's tedious to walk someone through.
