Well, what do you do if you have to perform a clean reinstall of the OS? Where do you get a key for the upgrade?

This HP laptop has a reset feature that supposedly reverts the system to its new condition. The new condition is the OEM Win 10 Home that was originally installed. I would then have to upgrade the Win 10 Home to Win 10 Pro.

I was planning to perform a clean install using the Win 10 Media Creation Tool, because I wanted to bypass all the HP bloatware that's included on the system when new and would reappear after an HP reset. I presume the HP reset would be non-functional after a clean install using the Win 10 Media Creation Tool, which is what I want. Could I still set the system up so that I could reset it to the Win 10 installed from the Media Creation Tool to avoid another clean install?

What key would I use to get Win 10 Pro and where am I supposed to get it?

The Win 10 Pro upgrade is cheaper in the USA. I only paid $99.00 and no VAT. One US dollar is about 0.8 UK pound.

What happens if you replace the hard disk? Will it still activate from your Microsoft account? Or, will you have to contact Microsoft to explain the situation?

It doesn't appear that a key is required. I only have a key, because I asked for it when Microsoft Support performed the Win 10 Pro upgrade. Which makes me wonder why the Windows Ten Forum thinks I have a bootlegged or hacked version of Win 10. HP and Microsoft think my installed Win 10 OS is legit.

OK, After multiple telephone support sessions with Microsoft Support, the key was changed to an OEM key. Actually, it's an OEM DM key.

What type of key should I have, if I upgrade from Win 10 Home OEM to Win 10 Pro Microsoft Store upgrade?

I would think that I should have a Retail key since it was purchased from the Microsoft Store.

If I have the wrong type of key, I can go back to Microsoft and have them fix it.

If Microsoft offers you a retail version then accept it.
OEM is married to the motherboard.
Retail can be moved to another computer.

After completing with Microsoft > upload a new V2

I'm still sorting this out with Microsoft. It's an all day affair, because the calls are going to the Philippines and they keep dropping the connection.

Microsoft installed an OEM key, but I think it should be a Retail key. I'm contacting Microsoft Support again to change the key to Retail.

HP Support claims they don't support Win 10 Pro on my laptop, because it wasn't originally installed. Microsoft typically claims they don't support OEM Windows, and they then refer you to the computer manufacturer.

I'll post again after I get this sorted out.
