Disk management - micro SD card renaming

    Greetings everyone .

My brand new Lenovo laptop with Windows 10 Home doesn't recognize my micro SD card. Following instructions that I found on another website I'm trying to change it's drive letter using Disk Manager. This results in the error in the attached screenshot.

I've followed the instructions on the error message numerous times, but no luck. I'm going around in circles. Your thoughts?

    Thank you!

If you reboot the system, does the same error present? Here's a link to an MS Support note on this topic: Simple volumes may become inaccessible if a power loss occurs shortly after creation. There's an MS Fix-it link on that page that might be worth a try, too. Weird.

Hope you find a fix. I just re-assigned the drive letter on one of my test PCs to check your symptoms, and couldn't reproduce your problem.

The reason the PC isn't recognizing the drive is cause there's no drive letter assigned. Assign a drive letter - Change and Assign Drive Letter in Windows 10

I've restarted Disk Manager several times and rebooted and restarted Disk Manager several times. I always get the same error message. File Explorer doesn't see the disk but Disk Manager does. Strange.

That's what I'm trying to do, and that is whats causing the error message.

As soon as I click 'Change Drive Letter and Paths, that error pops up.

    Thanks everyone.

If you have access to another microSD card (particularly, a new one or a known, good working one), try it and see if it works. The problem might be media related, in which case another microSD might work. Then you know you need to replace the defective media. Otherwise, it might be the media socket, or something in the USB-to-PCIe chain that's typically found in laptop PCs.
