Question about my USB Ports and Device Manager

According to my motherboard documentation I'm suppose to have 6 USB 3.0 ports and 8 USB 2.0 ports.

When I look at my device manager for my USB ports it shows the following below.

Universal Serial Bus Controllers
Generic USB Hub
Generic USB Hub
Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
USB Composite Device
USB Mass Storage Device
USB Printing Support
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub

Based on my device manager I have no idea if I really have USB 3.0. Heck, I'm starting to think none of them are 3.0 -- wouldn't it say 3.0 or 2.0 in the device manager?

Is there another way to check what your USB ports are other than the device manager. Or is that the best I can use.

I would trust the MB Manual. If you look inside the usb connector, the small circuit board is blue on usb3 ports. My be an industry standard, just my observation on MD, hubs and cables.

There should be some entries related to USB 3.0. You could check with a USB 3.0 UFD, try coping a large file. If the "average" speed you get is less than 5 MB/s, it´s a USB 2.0 port.

Yea, I know the color thing is suppose to tell you which port is 3.0 (blue) and which are 2.0 (black) but for whatever reason I would think it would also tell you in the device manager. Since I updated to windows 10 it seems I have ongoing issues that I'm trying to solve one at a time. Before I bugged you guys I try to do homework and search the net. In most cases I found that if you had 3.0 it was identified in your device manager as such. It isn't identified in my device manager, hence the concern.

I have been reading so much that all the different terms and lingo start to drive you crazy. It is tough to know what to do when your drivers are identified as generic. Maybe there is manufacture that is called generic I'm not aware of.

Yea, I got the blue color, got the USB 3.0 logo, but markings and color isn't convincing me my usb ports are operating at USB speed. Device manager doesn't tell me, USB View doesn't tell me, and so on. IF I truly have USB 3.0 ports why isn't it listed in my device manager?

Things don't seem right.

I plugged my external USB Western Digital into a USB 3 port (it was blue and it had the USB 3.0 logo) but when I ran HWInfo64 this is what is it showed me.

The above line that says USB Version Supported: 3.00 (Connected to a USB 2.00 Port) I think tells the story. Even though I have it plugged into a port that identifies it is USB 3.0 by color and logo I don't think it is working like a USB 3.0 device

The line about Drive Date of 20-Jun-2006 is old. The problem is I had the machine built and there is no manufacturer like Dell, HP or whatever where I can go to their site and download drivers. And the fact the drivers are named generic doesn't help. Frustrating!
