A very important note since near all motherboards have been using USB 3.0 since at least 2010. My Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 included a USB 3.0 Renesas (NEC) chip.
For clarity, when you say "won't support USB 3 at boot" does that actually mean if you have a device plugged into a USB 3 port those PC's won't boot??? What years are those cause they boot now. I could swear my 2010 X58 did as well, but it's been ages since I used that board so.., but my Z87 back in 2013 did.
Hi there
@sygnus21
just to clear confusion over USB3 won't boot.
some old mobos won't support USB3 boot (BIOS problem with old BIOS's) even with USB3 ports as well as USB2 ones.-- however once the OS (whatever it is) starts booting the USB 3 ports are supported. There's a few of these around still e.g old HP Gen 8 Proliant Microservers (those small cube things) --the newer Gen 10 of these do boot from USB 3 ports.
The old mobos just ignore the USB 3 port ( although a few will recognize a keyboard / mouse in a USB3 port - mine doesn't as I've tried that !!) until the OS initializes it which is well after the start of the boot process -- I can see that easily -- booting up one of my NAS (linux servers) --HP Gen 8 proliant microserver - the old one -- with a USB 3 hub plugged into a rear USB 3 port - the light doesn't come on until the Linux kernel has loaded and starts. Having USB 3 devices plugged in to a USB 3 port doesn't stop the boot process -- system also has 2 rear and 2 front USB 2 ports - devices can boot from those as well as an internal SD card (micro one like in a phone).
A USB 3 device plugged into a USB 2 port will usually boot / function if the USB 3 device is backward compatible for USB 2 --usually they are but of course the device will only perform at USB 2 speeds.
So to recap a computer that won't boot from a USB3 port WILL boot (from the internal HDD/SSD ) even if devices plugged into the USB3 port - they won't be recognized until after the main boot process and the kernel (whether Linux or Windows) starts. Those devices usually can be plugged into a USB 2 port and the computer will boot from the USB device if selected - although as previously stated it will only function at USB2 speeds / performance.
Just wondering though if anybody considered my idea of using a Blue tooth transmitter rather than messing around with USB-->Bluetooth dongles,
Cheers

Getting back to the original post.
Your MOBO is end of life, parts of it are probably out of spec.
Cheap electronics are made with out of spec reject components going out of the back door of production plants and poor quality assembly. Flogged off cheap to unsuspecting purchasers.
The combination of the two is unlikely to work.
Ebay and Amazon reviews are dubious, almost complete rubbish, for any tech component.
Even a quality Bluetooth dongle would be unlikely to work properly on such a MOBO. It has a lot of old electrolytic capacitors, have a look, some maybe bulging/leaking.
You should state the age of the MOBO in the first place, saves people's time, post #18 is rather too late.
You've been here since 2015, and this isn't your first post so you know your system specs need to be filled in under your profile in system specs. You also know the post listing them would be buried eventually, so I can only conclude you don't take this serious, and thus there's no need for me to hang around.
Peace:)
OK, that's up to you. But the main intention of this thread was about asking opinions on different makes of dongle in general, which most here have been very helpful with. The parts of the pc are getting changed soon, that's why I haven't filled the specs in. (If I keep it at all that is)
As to why you have felt the need to be so rude I don't know.
Thank you to everyone else for your help, much appreciated.
