West Digital Passport external HD can't access files

    HI all,
I have a 1TB external HD that I can't seem to access any files on. I have about 450gb of data/pics/junk on this HD and I'd like to access it.
I thought it might have been a a permission problem, but I've made read/write available to the HD.
I have run chkdsk and fix and corrections were made but I still can't seem to access it.

    Thanks for any help

In your DM image which drive, C: or D:, is your Passport?

I have 2 Passports, 750GB USB 2.0 and 1TB USB 3.0. The 1TB can be used backwards-compatible with USB 2 ports and the 750GB can be use on USB 3 ports most times.

disk c: is the HD for my laptop. disk d: is the Western Digital external usb drive.

I may sound ignorant, but those other partitions, I have no idea what those are and if I made those, or if WIN10 made those.

Damn, I need to get on top of this $hit.

    Thx for the help guys

Okay. If this is a WD drive it is they created partitions for their software. Some come with backup and or encryption.

So if you open file explorer and browse contents do you see files/folders?

D: is thankfully showing as having information on it, says 51% free so 49% full.

yes, I can see folders. I can't access the files in the folders, however. so, odd...

ok, I'm logged in as administrator on my laptop. How is it that I'm still not able to access the files on the HD?
