Keyboard not working after install of Win10 FeatureUpdate 1903

Keyboard not working after install of Win10 FeatureUpdate 1903

    Hallo there,
I have installed the FU1903 on my HP Z600 WS and since then I'm not able to log in into the system, since the Keyboard is not working at the moment I need to hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to get into the Login-Screen. I'm also not able to open the on-screen-keyboard because I need to enter Ctrl+Alt+Del first.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

Hi Win ASD 2019. Welcome to TenFourums @Win ASD 2019.

Wired or wireless keyboard, if wireless try a wired keyboard.

If wireless try a Motherboard USB 2.0 port.

I would also power off device, unplug from wall, wait five minutes and plug in. Again use USB 2.0 port.

When you say you installed 1903, was it being offered to you or did you force upgrade by running setup from USB or ISO?

While not desirable you could fall back. This is achieved through Advance Startup Options. They can be invoked by having two failed attempts to boot.

You start machine and seeing the circular dots. Power down. Wait a moment, power on, see the dots, power off. Wait a moment, power on. It should start Advance Startup Options.

You will see in tutorial, go back to previous build.

Ideally you would be using an Imaging tool like Macrium Reflect that would allow you to restore. Are you imaging machine?

    Hi Caledon Ken
    thank you for the reply.

I have forgotten to say: of course my keyboard is OK since I can enter the BIOS and change settings there etc. and it is a wired one. But I also tried a wireless one which works perfect with my Linux-PC, as well as this wired one on my Windows WS.
    Sorry for that.

The FU 1903 was offered by MS. I'm running Windows for more than 10 years on that machine!

The real strange thing is, all of my restorepoints which I normally create after any major upgrade are lost - and I have no idea why! And this is why I could not go back to the previous state.

Follow my instructions to start Advance Startup Options and go back to a previous build. This will access and use the Windows.old folder.

I would also recommend you use an Imaging tool like Macrium Reflect. This would allow you to reliably restore your machine to a point in time. Free, reliable and used by members. Test rescue boot media for any tool you decide to use.
