Restarts instead of sleeping or shutting down (network adapter)

So I got a wireless network adapter, the Gigabyte GC-WB867D-I
Installed it, it works great. But, I soon found that every time I hit shut down or sleep, the computer will do so and then promptly restart. Clean boot didn't help.

I've been all around the web trying fixes. Thing is, it's easy to fix- I just have to take out this dang wireless card and it's back to normal. Tried uninstalling drivers, tried fresh drivers. Tried disabling the device.

I've found like 3 similar reports of this behavior with this wireless adapter online- haven't gotten any response from those users. Have tried contacting Gigabyte, no response as of yet.

Found a thread here on tenforums with great suggestions from Caledon Ken so I tried command prompt shutdown, disabled Intel Management Engine Interface. Ran powercfg with IMEI enabled, results below. Any ideas at all would be welcome- thank you for reading this far!

update: Gigabyte support says
Dear customer,

Can system completely shut down if you physically take out theWB867D-I Wifi card ? Have you try move the card to other PCIE x1 slot and tested with other power supply to rule out the issue ?

Thank you. The computer will shut down and sleep as normal if I remove the card. I have tried both of my PCIE x1 slots with the same result. I don't have access to a spare power supply.

I'll update this forum as I seek resolution.

The normal problem is a settings in the adapter allow this to wake PC or similar have you tried that

Is the BIOS uptodate is wake on lan enabled does it boot straight up or turn off then start showing its using the second bios

I will dig into BIOS again, I can’t remember all the settings I’ve toggled including going back to default.

Not sure what you mean by “second BIOS” It seems to be fully cycling, but I’m not quite sure how to tell. One thing is that after sleep(restart), wake count is still at 0
