Windows has split my ssd in several partitions

I just booted my computer this morning, and saw that i now have two new partitions, one is called reserved for the system and the other one is called res. Why do they suddenly pop up on my computer? Is it possible to merge them all into a single partition?

Solved by deleting all duplicate partitions
, selecting the partition with windows as the active partition, doing the steps provided by navylcdr to install the boot files on the partition with windows, deleting the old partition and finally using this program to merge them into a single partition.

These are small partitions and quite normal.

    or MBR

While some partitions can be eliminated, like recovery, leaving the partitions as Windows created them will likely mean less issues when updating or recovering.

Could I suggest you post a screen shot and see if anyone notes a problems.

Yes, but i don't want them to be visible on my computer. I only want a single partition with my installation of windows. They haven't been visible on my computer previously.

Sounds like they may have been assigned a drive letter.

As I and cereberus stated, post Disk Management Screen shot please.

    Hi,
Updating builds can often get recovery partitions created if they don't already exist or at least one 450mb system reserved which would be recycled on each build update
If using the update assistant it would I believe create a windows.old folder instead of the extra partition/s
Fact of 10 get used to it
If you don't want to use system restore out of the newer build just delete the partitions but do post a disk management screen shot first

I prefer C partition only too frankly and use my own recovery and system imaging practice 10's is useless usually anyway.

Yes i agree, windows own system recovery only works a few rare times. I'm not sure what you mean with a windows.old folder? I only want a single partition. Also, i just went into disk management to get a better look at some of the partitions. It seems like the easiest way to get rid of them, is to simply just delete the partitions that you don't need. So i have deleted all the partitions that i didnt need, except the one called res. It says windows cannot delete the active system partition on this disk if i try to delete it. It seems like this partition is the boot partition. I got 2 empty partitions left, which are taking up space after i deleted the duplicate partions that i didn't need, so i have used this program to merge all my leftover partitions with my windows partition. It gave me a few more gb of space as well. So now i only got two partitions left, one is a partition with windows, and the other one is a boot partition. Is it possible to merge them as well?

    Well that depends.

If your computer is booting in legacy BIOS or CSM mode and the drive is MBR, then you have to mark the C: drive partition as active, run the "bcdboot C:\Windows /s C:" command, then you can delete the system reserved partition and expand C: drive into the empty space.

If your computer is booting in UEFI mode and the drive is GPT partition type, then you will need to go into UEFI firmware settings, disable secure boot, enable CSM (or legacy booting) mode. Then convert the drive to MBR, set the C: drive partition as active, run "bcdboot C:\Windows /s C:", then delete the EFI (System) partition and expand C: drive to fill the empty space.
