Windows 10 video driver for older HP desktop

The PC in question is an HP Pavillion p6710f which uses AMD 4200 integrated graphics. It was updated from Win7 64bit to Win10 64 bit a couple years ago & was working OK. However the latest Win10 update messed up the video.

A couple monitors were tried (a 1680x1050 and a 1920x1080) but now the maximum resolution is 1400 x 1050 for either. The refresh rate is 64Hz and there is no option to change it. Did a lot of searching & appears other people have the same problem & most indications are that Microsoft is no longer providing drivers that work with the chip set on older motherboards.

Is there a workaround or hack to fix this?

both AMD and MS are not providing win10 specific drivers for the ATI Radeon HD 4200.

however, I have bookmarked these v8.970.100.9001 cab driver downloads from MS Update Catalog since I faced a similar problem with the onboard ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics on certain boards that I use.

    (x86/32bit) (x64/64bit)

I install these v8.970.100.9001 drivers thru Device Manager and they worked great for my ATI/AMD 3000 graphics hardware on win10

AMD provides the drivers, but can change the resolution with them/. Especially with a lot more video media being used.
