I tried installing Intel HD Graphics drivers 15.40.16.64.4364, 15.40.7.64.4279, and 20.19.15.5063. The results were that the malfunction happened repeatedly soon after Windows started. I simply could not use my PC. I am now using Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. What should I do?
Two version numbers shown on the webpages are different from those on Device Manager.
Please try the following:
- Use the GPU driver on Gigabyte's web site v 15.40.16.64.4364 https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard...-dl-driver-vga
- Ensure you are using the latest BIOS v F7. Reflash the BIOS if you have this version anyway to correct any corruption in the GPU code. Load BIOS defaults after doing this. https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard...pport-dl-bios.
- You could have a hardware fault in the embedded Intel GPU. Consider buying a separate GPU of sufficient speed for your needs and use this instead - you can then disable the embedded GPU in the BIOS

The version of my motherboard is REV:3.0. The only applicable BIOS is F2, the one in use.
Temporarily turn off Windows updates of non-Microsoft drivers:

Each driver is on a trial and error basis.
In an earlier version of Windows an Intel driver had a similar display problem:

It may take many driver trial and error steps as well as an operating system change.
If the above do not work then see if you can find a friend, neighbor, relative, or local computer store to swap the CPU/iGPU.
I suspect the corruption appears when trying to enable some acceleration. This might be a hardware problem, but it could also be a software problem. You said you have tried it in Linux. Could you run an OpenGL benchmark and see? If the test runs successfully and indicated it has hardware acceleration enabled, then it is clearly a driver problem. If the test fails or runs too slow, then in Linux you have a generic driver without hardware acceleration and hence the problem never appears. Most likely a hardware problem. In any case it would not hard to re-flash or upgrade the BIOS. If the problem doesn't solve, it could be some issue with your motherboard. I hope I helped rather than confused you.
I already used the CMD files mentioned in this post to disable automatic Windows updates soon after I clean installed Windows.
He is suggesting to try a Benchmark in Linux to Prove the GPU is not faulty and that the issue is the Windows Drivers, if the benchmark won't run in linux or does not run well it means Linux is not using the Intel GPU either and you may have a hardware issue with the iGPU , so the advice would be to buy a cheap Videocard like a 1050Ti or 1060 and disable the iGPU. If a Firend can lend you aa GPU to try that may help prove it is the iGPU that has an issue , possibly caused by the old motherboard dieing , which has happened to me twice but luckily it was under Warranty for me.
