Printer preferences not identical on connected PCs

I have two home PCs, both running Win 10 Pro 64-bit version 1803, both connected to an Xfinity broadband router. My PC has a USB connected HP Envy printer. My wife's PC prints to this PC via the network.

The issue is that my wife's PC can only print to the HP in black-and-white. When selecting printer preferences on her PC there is no color option selections available. However, these selections are available on my PC. I have deleted, downloaded and installed the printer drivers, and reconfigured the Envy on her PC but the lack of color is still there (see below).

I'm wondering if this is a function of Windows or if this is an HP issue.

Have you installed the printer on her PC sometimes that's the only way to get all drivers and settings

    A couple of things

What is the default set to on your machine, color or B&W, as it is your printer maybe windows is picking up on it.

When you reinstall i would shut off printer. Then on your wife's machine I would uninstall printer, driver and all software. I would then start the install, printer still off, and proceed until it says it can't find printer. Then power up printer. This prevents windows from install drivers on your behalf.

Can I ask can you attach your printer directly to network? Wireless or wired?

I ask as this is usually the preferred model, then either PC can print without the need of the other being turned on. It also allows for printing from other devices like phones tablets, through HP's e-print or inexpensive apps.

Thanks for the replies. Re-installed my printer as a 'network' printer, not USB. Wife's PC found the 'network' printer and her printer preferences had the color option listed. Reverted back to the USB version and the color option wasn't listed, so I'm keeping her printer connection as 'network'.

Still wondering, though, why the color option isn't available to her if my printer is USB connected.

    Anyway, thanks again.

Thanks for posting back. That should be better anyway as she can print with your device off.
