Intel Driver & Support Assistant Update Failure

I'm running A Sony Vaio with Windows 10 Build 1803. Intel HD Grapics 4000 Ver: 10.18.10.4885. When I run the tray app it says there's an update for Intel Driver & Support Assistant. I click on download and I get this

Install Intel Installation Framework" or "Intel Management Engine Components" and that should fix the problem.

3.5.0.3 is the latest. It has been known to not install, since it is a very outdated piece of software.

Earlier this year I had had a problem with Intel software. They have support to fix their software. They were not able to fix the problem but I was able to and then they asked for the fix. So give them a try since they are free and may already have seen the problem and came up with a fix.

These are some trial and error steps:
    1) Use control panel to uninstall the software
    2) If there is any question about the uninstallation try Revo uninstaller
    3) Reinstall the software in safe mode with networking

You don't need that at all, old Bloatware. Just uninstall it.
Windows updates does the updating. You have the latest Intel HD 4000 driver anyway.

You may have additional trivia like Intel Management Engine Components and Intel Rapid Storage Technology. Again just leave them to Windows updates.

Try rolling back in System Restore before installing.

System Restore won't work because the software was installed a long time ago. Does Intel have a uninstaller for their software.
