Fan running with very low load Win10 ASUS N501VW

    ASUS N501VW
OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
    Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134

Constant sound of fan spinning. I think it is fan spinning, a 2-3 sounds per second, a faint rubbing sound. Using SSD only so this is not HDD rubbing.

I've been using this laptop for 18 months and though this is not a new sound, the constantly running is new.

Is something mechanically wrong? Fixable through configuration?

Memory (16GB installed) and CPU usage very low.

Below are some snips from the output of OpenHardwareMonitor.

    Code:

It's not load but temperature that determines fan speed. CPU (core) temps seem to be fine so maybe it's some other part. Just about only thing you can do thru windows is to check Power options in Control Panel > your chosen Power Plan > Change advanced power options > Processor power management > System cooling policy = Active.
