I try changing the explorer.exe icon using ResourceHacker but when I run it, it says "This app can't run on your PC.". What do I do? Am I doing something wrong?
OS: Windows 10 22h2
Runs fine on mine (not that I use it)
Note:
a. My account is admin
b. When I run it I get a UAC prompt
Beware: making such changes in system files mean they will be reversed should you
- run SFC /SCANNOW
- perform an in-place upgrade repair install
- receive any form of update that replaces those files
Therefore you will need a convenient means of repeating these changes.
This is why I prefer Stardock's Icon Changer - no changes to system files so independent of the above.
If you change explorer.exe's icon, I highly believe that the exe's original icon would get restored to its original state whenever Windows runs updates.
