    Screensaver weirdness

    Greetings, All!

Some of you may remember the illustrious MistODark from days of yore. I have a lovely screensaver produced by them of falling autumn leaves. These leaves are SUPPOSED to fall over whatever the screen happens to be showing when the saver kicks in, and it does just that--when I Preview it, or click directly on the .scr file. BUT---when it activates as a result of the computer sitting for a while, the leaves are then falling over a solid color background. I have tweaked any number of settings, to no avail. I seem to be running version 21H2 (OS Build 19044.2066). Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Afraid not. :-c Those tweaks, etc. are only for default Windows screensavers. Thanks, though.

This is a new behavior mandated by recent versions of Windows. It will blank the screen of the current user session before it activates the screensaver. For increased "security", dontcha know. I also would like to stuff this new policy back in the hole it crawled out of.

Thanks for reporting that screensaver behaviour change. It was news to me.

Seems that should be user-selectable. My level of "security" should be up to me, not Microsoft. >:-c

Hi again, everybody! Back again, since it's again time for Autumnal screensavers. Would anybody, in the interim, happen to have come across a method of overriding this "feature"?

    Thanks!

I expect that, if there is any solution at all, it rests with using a third-party replacement utility and not the built-in screensaver functionality.
