Activity of what? I can bare see the icon contents. Can you be more specific? You may have chosen an accent color or allowed an auto accent color from a theme.

The time I see that is on the File Explorer icon when working with files, doesn't last long unless a lot of files are being copied or moved.

the green is an indication of completion, file transfer, download, media , etc.

The color should be attached to whatever theme you are using. Green is the standard.

so it must be a registry setting which controls the color. which one I don't know , but I'll start checking.

It was the Progress Bar. Whatever color the progress bar is in the app, that will be the color on the taskbar icon.

Most common colors are green and blue.
