How do I change the icon for the Windows 10 calculator app?

    Hello,

Somehow, I figured out how to do this yesterday, but after moving the locations of the icons, I can't seem to figure out how to do it again.

    The Goal:
I want to edit the icon for the calculator app for Windows 10 so that I can pin it to my taskbar and have it match my other icons.

    The Problems:
    - Creating a shortcut DOES NOT HELP - The shortcut will simply open another icon in the taskbar for a separate calculator app, thus defeating the purpose.
    - There is no "Properties" option upon right-clicking the calculator app; this is how I was able to edit the icons for every other app.

You'd think this would be a super easy thing to do, but apparently not...

Hi TylentGreen, welcome to Ten Forums.

It seems interesting that you were able to do this.

But I don't think it is actually possible to do this since apps from the store only give you 'app settings' to change.

The app may also update itself occasionally, which will probably reset the icon as well.

You could take a look at downloading the old desktop calculator app (if you don't mind the old theme) and change the icon for that.

You can't change the Calc App icon bc it's not actually an ico, they're png's & you can find them in the Assets folder for windows calculator in WindowsApps C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\

...you'll have to take ownership to get in there.

    hello!
I found this thread while looking for a solution to this problem too.
I got there by finding the basic program in "C:\Windows\System32\calc.exe". I created a shortcut on the desktop, modify the icon and drag it into the taskbar.
    tadam! :)

Yep. Calculator is found here: C:\Windows\System32\calc.exe
Right click calc.exe and choose: Send to > Desktop (create shortcut)
Then right click the desktop shortcut to change the icon... browse to: C:\Windows\System32\shell32.dll ...for many icons to choose from.
Then right click the changed icon and choose: Pin to Taskbar.

You could use a resource hacker and open calculator in there and change the icon that way. But you will have to do that each time the program updates.

    Try this:

    Create a new shortcut thus:

    (see

    )

This will have a calculator style icon.
