I guess I need to report on my chickens:
The little yellow/blonde chick didn't make it. The little black one is hanging in there, but still cannot stand. I'm still not sure what will happen. She's in good health, except for that and eating more than half a teaspoon at each feeding.
Her six siblings are doing well and feathering out. My two teenagers are now ready for the growing out pen, but we have to move the six post teens into their own pen first.
We've talked about buffalo gnats, which are very vicious. They got our Ameraucana Rooster; I had fed about an hour earlier and he was fine, but when I went in to take pictures, he was not doing well. He died within the hour.
I have found a fellow chicken lady near us, and it looks like we can set up a trade for new blood in our flocks. We haven't decided whether we want to hatch or trade existing chicks yet.
