I hear you. They'll spend their budget on extravagant Christmas decorations and Spring/Summer hanging plants on street light posts, but a service for a citizen forget it, even if it's to avoid a danger. Here's one three of our main streets in town. Hanging flower pots are up now. They water them once a week whether they need it or not. These things are nice, but first things first
Yeah, well, that's the way cities operate. Along with electric companies & phone companies apparently. We've called them also & they tell us they won't do anything till it actually falls. Even though one of their lines is visibly being stretched by a tree limb, they came out, looked & said "we can't so nothing till it breaks."

Mine is UEFI, but with an MBR type partition, for one cannot dual boot using a GPT type. UEFI can be configured with either, though.

AND!!!!! I believe I stumbled onto something, or re-learned something I had forgotten. When I create the media (thumbs), I have to turn Secure Boot off. I used Media Creation Tool, Rufus, 7-Zip, and made a new Macrium Rescue...... all with Secure Boot off. UEFI and everything else stayed the same.

Now, the one-time boot option will boot all flavors by selecting the USB device.

Apparently Dell's idea of Secure Boot is more like an electronic Chasity belt! I shall bring this to their attention when they call me at 11:00 this a.m. Yes....I raised hell with them. Their BIOS 1.04 for this monster worked fine. Couple of weeks ago they up'd it to 1.05...... and weirdo things happened. So I politely screamed at them.

    We shall see.....

Good Morning HG, Mike , TC, KADO and Bob.:) I woke my PC up this morning and it blue screened. The culprit was Samsung Magician so no more Magician for me. This has been the cause of all of my issues.
Good Morning Josey, your computer is possessed as I've been running Magician for years without any problems. :)

Yup like Kari was saying earlier TC, some people have no issues with secure boot on ...and some do. Mine has always been on. BUT I can only boot from a USB drive by hitting my F8 key at reboot, or it will not recognize the thumb drive.

You would think there would be a Standard for how's it's implemented, but apparently not. Not really sure who's at fault.....the board maker or MS. Even on my Surface Pro 3, an MS product, I have to turn it off to run Media Creation Tool. Somehow that just doesn't make sense.

I agree you with 100% because it don't make sense to me either ....guess these guys have there own preferences on this. Not sure its MS thou, I would lean on the board makers or Bios engineers ....or whatever there called.

Ok, I see that. When I attempt to dual boot after the first OS creates a GPT partition on a wiped disk, I get on warning upon installing the 2nd one that "Windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style." Therefore I choose the MBR type. On this rig anyway.

Any explanation for that or am I doing something wrong?
