I didn't have a flatbed printer, so getting the scanner was helpful. A Guy

Only combos come with scanners but they are mostly inkjet and I prefer laser printers, besides, I already have couple of laser printers. This one was about $50CDN (on sale).

I have a Brother DCP-9020CDW which covers all my needs - Colour Duplex Laser Printer, , Duplex Colour Copier with auto paper feed, Color Scanner also can use the Feeder to create PDF files of documents. As it's a Network printer with wireless it works with all devices, oh , and the cat likes it as a bed

Too expensive but looks like professional or at least SOHO combo. Even with separate devices you can use it as a copier if both are on at same time. With it's SW, there is one button operations to scan and print.

Not too bad for the price. Yeah, some people prefer lasers like you.
Mine is an inkjet (Epson) combo which I got on sale for $50 with a set of ink. Luckily, I got about 8 cartridges of black ink for it for only $6 each (retails at $25) because the store was closing. I got everything they got left in stock. I still have around 5 cartridges left, I only buy color inks when I see them on sale. One time, I bought another unit of the same printer because it comes with a full set of ink and it was on sale for $30 (with the combo printer). A full set of ink alone costs $45. So now I have a spare scanner/printer, :)
As for my latest purchase, I just invested on a $2000 queen size bed and a pair of gelcool pillows for better sleep at night. :)

I had many inkjet printers, Started with first Cannon portable early '90s but that one's cartridge could be refiled many times and ink was cheap then. Later on situation became ridiculous and set of new, non-refillable cartridges cost as much as new printer. There's also problem with cartridges that would dry up if not used reguraly.
