Please choose 'save all events in custom view...' instead, that way we can have a closer look at the events.
EDIT: of course, upload the saved events :)

It looks like both hard drives are in a bad shape.
I notice a chkdsk log, chkdsk without any parameter in command prompt or via Windows Explorer unfortunately won't help much.
Going back to the requirements for a clean install, it may help fix problems but it will also result in new problems with the amount of errors. Recommendation, replace both hard drives and clean install on a new hard drive.
That sound drastic. PC was working well until I tried to install MySQL just over a week ago. But, you are the expert.
Do I have two hard drives on this laptop?
The logs report errors starting around november last year.
Mainly these 2 event errors are present, which is why I said 'both'.
Code:The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1\DR1. The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk2\DR29.
Okay, I was working on large files (Word, Excel) and laptop was labouring at times.
I appreciate your help. Any advice on where to get (and what) hard drives. My system specs show Hitachi HTS 5450....A300.
Since you're in a different country I cannot give proper advice where to get a hard drive.
If you can afford it, I would suggest to get a similar HDD which is 50% larger or if the laptop isn't too old get a SSD instead.
Okay. Thank you. Are you quite certain my hard drive (s) has failed?
