BSOD On New System Setup
Hello and thanks for taking the time to help me with my issue.
I recently upgraded my computer, firstly i changed the graphics card and everything was fine. Then after a week i also upgraded my cpu, motherboard and ram. The change was :
CPU old : Ryzen 9 3900X. New : Ryzen 7 7800X3D
Ram old : Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR 3 3600MHz New : Corsair Vengeance DDR 5 32GB 6000MHz CL30 AMD EXPO
Motherboard old : ASUS ROG Strix B450-F New : Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX ATX
Powerpack old : Corsair RM850E New : RM1000X
Graphics old : RTX 3080TI New : RTX 4090.
Now I've reinstalled windows wiping my windows drive while maintaining the files on my other drives as this hasn't really caused an issue before. After the hardware changes i had a BSOD two times and i realised it was because of what i guesed were different things that i'd managed to figure out.
1. My drives had changed letters after my hardware change.
For this it didn't bother me to much as my C and D drives were the same. It had only swapped the E and F drives around but my games still worked.
2. When i'd logged back in to windows after the initial hardware change i had to put in a new windows 10 professional key due to the new hardware changes.
This went smoothly until i realised i was getting a BSOD in doing simple certain things like deleting a empy folder on a drive other than the C drive.
I found that the owner for all of the folders on every other drive other than the c drive was not under my ownership. I went through all the folders on the drives changing the ownership to my account with inheritance and it seems to have fixed the issue of getting a BSOD doing simple things.
The latest one i'm having trouble with is that it seems to be happening when i'm not around. I leave my pc in sleepmode throughout the night and it seems when i wake up it's crashed during the night. I only really seem to know this as wall paper engine pops up telling me it hadn't closed properly after waking my pc up. I'm getting this in event viewer : "The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000001e (0xffffffffc0000096, 0xffffd204705183ae, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000)"
I think I know where the mini dump is if it would be a good thing to attatch ? I'm thinking of backing up all my drives and formatting them to try to fix the issue but i'd like a little guide before hand to see if the problem is something else unrelated.
Some info :
Edition Windows 10 Pro
Version 22H2
Installed on 23/01/2024
OS build 19045.3996
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19053.1000.0
I've tried /sfc scannow and it was ok.
I did a memory diagnostic and it was ok.
CHKDSK always gets stuck at level 4 on my D drive. ( Makes me want to reformat. )
Thanks for your time.
