    V.2: Crash/lose audio when gaming - 0x8000000000000002

Alright, thought this was fixed a few days ago, but it came back. context from my last thread:

Upgraded my CPU/Mobo/RAM/C:\ drive early December, just started having problems with all this in the last few days. Crashing (All screens freeze, have to restart by pressing power button) seems specific to gaming, may have happened once on just ~netflix. Some games don't seem to trigger it at all (eg factory-builder Satisfactory), some do frequently (cyberpunk 2077, RDR2), and there seems to be some relationship with coming back from a screensaver or interacting with objects/menus.

Weirdly, I'll lose sound after these crashes (as if my PC does not recognize any audio inputs), and have been able to get it back by restarting via the windows memory diagnostic, interrupting it maybe a minute in. Sound problems persist if I restart or shut down normally. Not looking to troubleshoot any of that necessarily, just more context.

Oh and, I forgot to mention - Windows Memory diagnostic shows no problems and reinstalling my video and audio drivers didn't change anything.

The last pro I spoke with (zbook) had me run tuneup plus & diskparinfo, as well as create a restore point and share a screenshot of my disk management. I've uploaded all of those to the google drive folder linked below. I was also told to:

"Uninstall any hardware / software related to these drivers:

nipcibrd National Instruments PCI Bridge Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\nipcibrd.sys

nipbcfk National Instruments Class Upper Filter Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\nipbcfk.sys"

which I'm not exactly sure about (especially hardware), but I was able to uninstall a National Instruments suite of programs and delete a "nipbcfk.sys" from the C:\ file indicated. Is there anything else I need to do there? Initially the games/PC stopped crashing, but after a couple of days with long periods of idling, it started happening again, and is now happening pretty frequently. TIA

The computer has been having recurrent BSOD reporting WHEA 124.

BSOD WHEA 124 are almost always caused by malfunctioning hardware.

Hardware can be stress tested to potentially identify malfunctioning hardware.

However, most often the stress testing does not identify malfunctioning hardware and swap testing is required.

Download and install one of these temperature monitoring software:
Download Speccy | Find your computer specs, free!
    HWMONITOR | Softwares | CPUID
SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer

Run: (see links with instructions and warnings) (post images or share links)
    Prime95 > 3hrs
    Furmark > 30 min
    Memtest86+ > 8 or more passes
Sea Tools for Windows Long Generic test (all drives)
HD Tune: Health, Benchmark, Full error scan (all drives)

Thank you, thats kinda what I was thinking. I was able to run Prime95 for maybe 4 hours without problems, furmark for over 30 - posted both logs to the same google drive if you care, tldr they seemed fine.

I'm stuck on memtest86+ because I can't get into my BIOS, even with an elevated cmd shutdown /r /fw. I've tried the standard restart-hold F2, I've tried interrupting 3x during startup & the above command. All methods just bring me to the typical windows 10 pic-of-the-week login page. Can you advise further on that or should I post another thread elsewhere? Or is there any other way to isolate mobo vs RAM? TIA

    The recovery partition is disabled.

Open administrative command prompt and copy and paste:

    reagentc /info
    reagentc /enable
    reagentc /info

If these commands work then it will display enabled.
If the enable command fails then plan other steps.
Abootable Windows 10 flash drive can be used as needed.

In case there are problems with Memtest86+ then run Memtest86.
Memtest86+ can run for unlimited passes.
Memtest86 (free) can only run for 4 passes.

The transcript for Furmark was very short.

Please report the max temp during a 30 min run.

Okay, I think I've finished everything, nothing seemed conclusive. All the logs are up on the same google drive. A few of the HDTunePro File Benchmarks had I/O Errors but I'm not sure how conclusive those are - I tried moving the game to the drive that never had errors (my C:\ & largest NVMe) and still had the same crashing. No other errors.

I ran Furmark for an hour but lost the log file, so the screenshot is from that run, while the log is from the half-hour today. both of them stayed around the same temp (81C Max).

I was able to get reagentc to show that the recovery partition is enabled.

I can't help but wonder if I'm using the OCCT Monitoring app wrong, is there some way I'm supposed to fire up a game and let it log the crash? idk - let me know what to try next. thanks--

    1) Run Sea Tools Long Generic test on each drive > post images or share links

    2) Run HD Sentinel: (trial version)
Hard Disk Sentinel - HDD health and temperature monitoring
Post share links into the newest post for results on these tabs:
    a) Overview
    b) Temperature
    c) SMART

    3) Run another Furmark for 30 continuous minutes > post duration and Temperature maximum

    Code:
    short generic vs long generic

    I/O errors
    Samsung SSD 970 evo 1TB
    WDC 1003FZEX
    WDC15EADS

OK, I don't understand what I'm doing wrong with these Furmark logs - you can see on the screenshot that it ran for 59 minutes with a max of 81, but I can see the log doesn't have any of that. I just ran furmark for another ~48 minutes (82C max this time) and still only have a ~30 sec log. I would have sworn the last one had the full log (30mins+ of timestamps at least) but when I saved it to the g.drive, it only saved the initial log that's there now. And so I was going to manually copy this newest log, but its not even useful. So I can at least tell you that I didn't see any visual artifacts during any of these tests. Is there some way to manually update that log file..?

Between writing the above and working on the remaining drive tests, I tried running Furmark again to get a log, and it did actually crash. I wasn't letting Furmark take priority and had stuff like reddit video & netflix up too. Thats also why one of the SeaDrive tests is a picture from my phone instead of a screenshot.

hope thats enough to work with, lmk what to try next

For the Sea Tools long generic test report what was seen hovering or clicking the exclamation marks.

    ST32000644NS has a bad block.

SSD 840 PRO has CRC errors.

    Hard disk case: communication errors

For Furmark the test image mat display the Tmax and continuous test duration.

Yeah I couldn't get anything to show up when hovering over the exclamation mark, I thought that was weird too. Clicking it just selects the drive. When I look at the SMART tab the only one not marked state=OK is Airflow temp, which says "failed in past."

Theoretically, if either of those drives are the root problem, I should be able to disconnect them and play the game, right? It would be a mild inconvenience but I can give that a shot if you think its worth trying. I don't have my OS or any of these games installed on either of those drives.

In Furmark, I'm not seeing an option to display the Tmax or toggle to a continuous test duration - I wonder if I'm on a different version or something, because I think those might already be on? It seemed like I could run the test indefinitely, and again it does show the time the test has been running in the info panel on the top left, next to frames in the second line...

My options within furmark, toggling F1 help panel, let me toggle:
Info display (already on), OSI readability (on), furry obj. rendering (on), GPU monitoring (on), display open GL errors (off!), GPU monitoring (on), display stats (on), Post-FX (can't tell if this is on or off) & temp graphs (on).
