Computer shutdown/restart problem - DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f)
Hello all,
yesterday my brother brought me his Desktop because he is tired of waiting a long time for every shutdown or reboot. Sadly he could not tell me how long the problem exists, maybe since sometime last year.
So I started from scratch and the computer indeed does not properly shutdown/restart/standby when a network adapter is activated (it doesn't matter if there is an active link). It takes about 10 minutes and when windows has restarted there is a new file in Minidump folder with a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f).
I installed WinDbg and tried to analyze the Minidumps. The results showed a blocked IRP, so I tried to gather details about the IRP mentioned in Arg4. First I thought it was a simple driver issue and tried new Realtek drivers from 2022 for the network adapter on the mainboard. But removing and installing new drivers did not help, so I disabled the network adapter completely in the BIOS/UEFI (since disabling it in device manager freezes the device manager) and the computer can shutdown/restart/standby perfectly. So I thought I can solve this problem with a USB network adapter, but once the adapter is installed the computer has the same problem like before. I also tried a USB WiFi Adapter, but it's the same issue. Another problem is: all my adapters seem to have Realtek chipsets, so I'm not sure if I can exclude a driver issue. But how likely is it that different devices with different driver file names lead to similar bug check codes?
Hopefully you can help me to solve this problem. I attached a textfile with the results from !analyze and !irp for the integrated LAN adapter.
Here are some System specs:
Windows 10 x64
Version 21H1 (Build 19043.2006)
Asrock B75 Pro3
Intel i5-3470 @ 3.20 GHz
8 GB RAM
Thank you very much and best regards
