    Random Event 41 Shutdowns

I am experiencing sudden shutdowns. It happens once a day. When it happens, the power button on the front of the case doesn't turn the computer back on unless I power cycle the PSU. Once it does it once, it will do it on every restart; the computer makes it as far as the log in screen. If I wait an hour or so, I will restart and work. I have tried a few things: I changed the power settings according to online sources: removed fast boot, hybrid sleep is off, etc. I've tried changing the power source: I've tried the computer plugged into the wall directly, a UPS, a power strip. I've reseated the CPU fan with fresh mounting tape. I've also read through a lot of other Event 41 posts, but no slam dunks as to what this is.

I don't see any temperature related issues.

    Thanks in advance.

I've attached the log below using the Tenforums app. My computer info is as follows:

    OS Version: Windows 10 21H2
    CPU: Ryzen 5 3600x
    Graphics: Raedon RX590
    System Disk: Unknown PCIe SSD
    RAM: 16GB

I'm running Memtest86x right now. I'm through 26 passes and no errors. I'm going to let that finish. I do notice it fails almost right away with Furmark. The temperature of the GPU is normal though (79 deg) when it shuts. I've read that this could be a PSU issue. It's there anyway to test the PSU directly?

How to fill out System Specs for tenforums.

See here: System Specs - Fill in at Ten Forums

Fill out as much as you can, look at mine for an example of what can be included. The more information the better.

I'll work on getting all that information together when I can get my computer to boot. I ran Memtest86 for 40+ hours. There were no errors, but now my computer does the shutdown issue almost immediately. Right after the test, the fan would just twitch a little and then it would shut. I let it sit for a about an hour, and it made it to the login screen, then shut.

I've confirmed already that the CPU and GPU were not overheated when it shut while running Furmark. I am assuming the issue is with the PSU overheating.

So I swapped out the PSU for a higher wattage one. I had ~650 W before, now it has ~850 W. It fixed it. Couple things I don't understand though:

If I plug my system specs into Nextegg's wattage calculator, it comes up as ~780 W, so I am obviously underpowered with my old PSU. But, it worked for over two years with no issue. I have made no major hardware changes during that time. What gives? Why would it start giving me problems now?

Also, When I installed the new PSU, it wouldn't work with the old PSU's wires (same connectors). I had to take out the old wires (mainly the motherboard wire and CPU wires), and put in the new ones. The PSU wouldn't power on with them connected. Why is this? Could I have had a short in these wires? I didn't try it with the new wires and the old PSU. I'm curious, but I don't think I will since it works now.

Did you ever find the answers to your questions? I am experiencing the exact same problem with my laptop and have run through pretty much all of the same solutions, though I'm not sure there is much I can do; I replaced the power input and ran into the same issues still.

You can really change a power supply in a laptop. the wall adapter isnt the power supply.
