Win10 laptop won't boot anymore after deleting catroot folders

Hello there, my msi laptop with Windows 10 1809 won't boot into Windows after I accidentally deleted the catroot & catroot2 folder contents. I can still access the bios and my Linux Mint OS. I can still open the files jpg,png,mp4 from Linux, but I can't write on that partition, read only.

    It just shows this error.

Boot it from a 10 installation media and try repair
Boot to Advanced Startup Options in Windows 10

option 5 and then troubleshoot advanced options - startup repair

So a usb flash drive is necessary to do that? Unfortunately I don't have one right now.

There MAY be another way to do this
    Boot to your Linux
    Mount your windows drive
Go to the recycle bin on windows - IF the deleted folders for Catroot and Catroot2 are in the Recycle bin then move them from there to your Linux desktop - note the Windows recycle bin on Linux - when you open it will have differently named folders of course but when you open those you should if the Catroot folders are there - see them.

Then still on the mounted drive open the Windows folder and then the system32 folder
Move to the system32 folder the catroot folders.

Come out of there and then try on a reboot if windows will now load
    See my screenshots

Yeah I can still access the files from Linux, but they are read-only. How can I make it read & write?

Is the dual boot on a Grub boot or on the windows boot
I cannot see the relevance of this
I can still open the files jpg,png,mp4 from Linux,
you are not going to open the files you list
You are going to mount the windows partition and then go to system32 and see if the folders catroot and catroot2 are there as shown on my screenshot
I think you will of course find they are not
As I asked are they in the recycle bin as shown on my first screenshot

IF the partition mounts but is read only then try right clicking the folder windows and properties then permissions and see if read write is shown on the drop arrows. If not set it to that and try again

IF the drive is already mounted when you enter Linux. Then try unmounting it and remounting

If that does not work then try disconnecting power to laptop, remove battery and hold down power button for a full 20 seconds - then reconnect power and boot to Linux.

If that does not work and you have still not got a usb flash pen - which I urge you to obtain asap - so you can either proceed as I first suggested and/or boot to Linux live session - then in Linux open package manager find nautilus and install that
    then follow this
How to Mount Your Windows 10 (or 8) System Drive on Linux

That all said I suspect it is mounted read only because of the file errors caused by you deleting those folders

    @Macboatmaster

Okay, I managed to get the Windows C Drive into read and write now, but I cannot access the Windows folder itself.

Does the OP have a live Linux Mint medium? If so, try using it to access Windows.

If you have a shadow copy (restore point), you should be able to copy the catroot folders and contents out from that.

You will need boot media which contains something to access shadow copies. I use shadowcopyview in my windows boot media.
