    [SOLVED] Random PFN_LIST_CORRUPT BSODS?

Hi all - a friend asked me to look at their laptop which is having random PFN_LIST_CORRUPT Bluescreens. These seem to happen at random. I had it playing a HD video on Youtube for 3 hours this morning and it was fine, but I tried to open the Event Log to look at the data, and it crashed again (as well as crashing once just sitting on the desktop....and another time opening the browser....no idea what's causing it).

It's a Lenovo Y50-70 running Win10 Home (v. 2004). I know this can be a driver issue, so I updated all the drivers as much as I could....no dice, still does it.

SFC comes back clean, DISM comes back clean.

Link to the Windows MEMORY.DMP from the BSOD is here (for the last BSOD, anyway):
    MEMORY.DMP - Google Drive

I haven't been able to keep it working long enough to see if the BSOD codes match from BSOD to BSOD, but I do know they are all consistently a 'PFN_LIST_CORRUPT" error.

Any thoughts or ideas I could try?

@zbook - still having this issue, so posting as suggested in that link! :)

Link to the V2 Log Collector file I got from the computer in question:

Just an update - I upgraded the machine to Win10 v.20H2 to see if that would fix any driver issues easily, no dice....still crashing. I'm hoping it's an easy fix with a driver issue, though I don't know how to read the logs.

Another update - I tried reinstalling some of the drivers (webcam, sound, etc) this morning in case it was one of them, but no dice - still crashing.

Anybody have any ideas? My friend needs her laptop back and I am fresh out of them....is there somewhere I could go to learn how to read the logs if nobody here has time to? (And I understand if folks don't...we all have lives! :) )

It looks like it is the Realtek Webcam driver which is causing the problems. It's an old driver from 2015.

Oh, thank you! I can try replacing that and see if it does it....would that cause the random BSODs though (even when the camera is not in use? That was the one mentioned as causing the error in the logs?

    Cheers!

OK - update...just went down booted it up and tried the webcam in the Windows camera app....the app says there is no camera installed. I went to Device Manager and I don't see it listing any webcam anywhere.

I went to Control Panel and I do see some Lenovo 'Easy Camera' software installed a few months ago, so I uninstalled that.

If I can't find that driver you mention in the Device Manager, how would I go about uninstalling it?

Perhaps you need to check the item for Show Hidden Devices in Device Manager to reveal the webcam.

Sorry for the slow reply! It's been a hectic few days...

I did as you suggested and yes, the webcam was shown under hidden devices....very odd. I deleted the driver for it. I HAD noticed that, despite the webcam being plugged in behind the LCD as it's supposed to be, it didn't work, so either there was a short in the cable or the camera, itself is dead.

I actually had another of the same laptop around so I temporarily swapped LCD cables and the camera still didn't work. As the owner never uses the webcam, they just asked me to leave it unplugged rather than replacing it, so I unplugged it, covered the plug with electrical tape and uninstalled that driver....hasn't crashed since, so I think this is solved! :)

Thanks for the feedback. If it continues to work well please mark the thread as solved - this works better than changing the title.
