BSOD when unplugging laptop charger (iastorAC.sys)

    Hi Guys,

I have been facing this situation for the past four months ever since there was a recent updated pushed out by Microsoft. The windows 10 version 2004 has caused me so much grief since it was updated; the slow boot time, the sluggishness. But apart from that, I have been getting BSOD if I have a charger plugged and if I remove it. It has something to do with Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver.

What I have tried so far:

Rolled back before the windows update
I have also reset my PC( drivers and apps)
I have also tried to see if Intel has any updates for the drivers in my PC (Intel(R) Driver & Support Assistant) but no updates
I have tried to see if there were nay updates on Dell but nothing there
I also flashed latest version of BiOS but no help

These are the latest updates I have on my PC. I put the updates on pause because I was tired of having issues with every update Windows rolls out:

I agree that the iastorAC driver is the one causing the problem. Why are you in a RAID setup? It seems unnecessary for a single SSD. Have you made any changes to the disk drives that were originally in your laptop?

    Hi Phil,

I have not made any changes to the original disk drives. Let me get you the details of how its setup.

    Ok Issue is resolved now.

I uninstalled the Rapid Storage Technology driver from device manager. My dumbass went ahead and restarted the PC when it prompted without installing a new driver and when I restarted, it wouldn't boot because its uninstalled. I had to use system restore to rollback and then I installed the latest driver 18.30.1.1138 and now it doesn't crash when I unplug my battery.

Update: I still see the same iastorAC.sys error when I restart PC but its no big deal since at least it doesnt crash when I unplug my battery.

Yes when I restart as soon as it tries to shut down, it crashes on the BSOD again.

Report this to Intel. Keep an eye on the Intel driver downloads - they are continually having to update their drivers to keep pace with the Microsoft updates and may have another update very soon.
