PC freezing for ~2 minutes, then restarts. happening often

Since moving with my computer to a new apartment (unsure if related but including all the details), it's been doing this strange thing where it freezes up, the cursor disappears, and after a minute or two it shuts off and restarts. There is no BSOD, but it's creating a memory dump and kernel power error which seems the same to me. (If there's somewhere more appropriate to post this, please let me know.) The place I am now is hotter, so maybe that could be related, but the temps all look normal (55c max) in HWMonitor. I built this PC to run games, but haven't played much and it hasn't happened while a game is running. It usually does it when I'm not doing much actually. Anyway, hope someone could help me get my computer to not crash again before my online classes start in a bit. Thanks!

    Windows 10 64bit version 2004

Btw I'm fully aware I'm running a slightly older NVIDIA driver since the latest is incompatible with a game I play. (I don't think this is the issue since I was running it for ~3 weeks prior just fine.) I just went ahead and used DDU to completely uninstall in safe mode and installed the latest driver. I also uninstalled the latest updates (besides the security update since uninstall isn't an option for it) that installed on 8/11, the day after I moved. Going to keep using my computer like normal and see if it happens again. 🤞

Possible bumped during move? Disconnect/reconnect cables. Remove and re-seat memory modules.

Sorry I just tried to follow instructions PC freezing for ~2 minutes, then restarts. happening often-chrome_tecqpc4hho.png

If it happens again I'll definitely open up the case and inspect but hoping the recent Windows updates I uninstalled have something to do with it.

Agreed, but just offering another opinion. I find it's not the "reputable" service that's at issue, it's what might be unseen in the zip file.

Anyway, let's see what happens if you have to open up your computer ...

One other thing I sometimes try with "misbehaving" machines, replace your drive with a blank one and do a quick (re)install of Win 10 to see what happens. If it is hardware related, the problems should keep on happening. If not, possibly a software (e.g. Windows update) issue.

I guess you've seen this- is it applicable? You're running 2004:

Huh, my oldest update that's shown is from 7/30 and I don't see KB4568831 so I guess the patch never installed? That does seem applicable and makes sense why updating to the latest driver seems to have fixed it. But I'll give it a few more days to make sure.

I actually don't understand why it's working but I've had my computer on for the whole day and no problems. Upon reading that link again it says driver version 358.00 and below but the older drive I had was only from May, 446.14.

Well I think it's safe to say it's fixed. Reinstalled the updates I uninstalled when I started the thread and updated to the newer version of the NVIDIA driver. Must be a similar problem causing BSOD in those updates from 7/30 - 8/11 with slightly older drivers.

Just a comment for @idgat. We expect users to attach zip files as that is how the V2 and DM log collectors package the data they collect for uploading.
